Marine Biology project
Description
The program PESQAR aims in the development of a sustainable artisanal fishery in Ecuador’s Marine Reserve Galera-San Francisco. To reach this aim we are working on three subjects: socioeconomics, infrastructure and biological investigation
Volunteers Activities
Assist the fisheries log term monitoring program (measure fish in the port, interview fishermen, data analysis, photography, etc)
Collaborate on activities according to the Marine Reserve Management Plan
Collaborate on workshops with local people (mainly fishermen and women groups)
Schedule work
It is variable during the day, depends on the fishermen activities. From Monday to Friday.
Free Time
On the weekends the volunteer can be on his own, travel and enjoy him or herself
Volunteer Profilee
A person who can adjust to work in rural communities with few amenities
Enthusiastic, creative and good communicator
The volunteer has to be flexible to react quickly at new working condition
The volunteer has to work independently
Fluent spoken Spanish required.
